The No Plastic Shop is based on Dartmoor in Devon. We have some amazing sustainable producers here in the South West and I want to showcase the best plastic free and zero waste goods that Dartmoor and the surrounding area has to offer alongside well-known international ethical brands.
Why is this important to me?
I can minimise the carbon footprint of the shop. The products are not making a journey across the world, but instead they are heading just up the A30.
It supports local communities. Despite its picture postcard appeal, rural unemployment and economic deprivation remains a problem, particularly in Cornwall. Local businesses create their own ecosystem of employment and support for other local businesses.
I can find hidden gems. Alongside the high profile, local companies like Scence, I can share lovely local soap makers that you may not have discovered before.
I can support great people. The plastic free makers and sustainable producers in the South West are an inspiring and creative bunch. I am so happy to develop an ongoing relationship with some of them.
I can showcase this beautiful part of the world. I am totally biased of course, but I think you would be hard pressed to find better beaches, more awe inspiring moorland or more breathtaking views than in Devon and Cornwall.
